Wolverhampton’s Annual Business Breakfast

Spotlight on ‘Economic growth through housing’ at Wolverhampton’s Annual Business Breakfast

Wolverhampton is gearing up for one of its most anticipated business events of the year — the Wolverhampton Business Breakfast — a key gathering for businesses and investors eager to explore new opportunities.

Scheduled for Friday, September 27 from 7:45am to 11:00am at the iconic Molineux Stadium, this year's event with headline sponsor Wavensmere Homes, will put "Economic Growth through Housing" in the spotlight.

BBC and Sky Sports broadcaster, Amber Sandhu, will host the event, guiding attendees through a morning of insights and discussions that focus on the Government’s ambitious pledge to build 1.5 million new homes over the next five years.

The City of Wolverhampton is leading the charge, forging strategic partnerships with major developers to deliver thousands of new homes while making significant investments in social housing.

This event offers an opportunity for key stakeholders, local businesses, and suppliers to gain insights into national, regional, and local housing plans. Attendees will learn how housing development drives job creation, wealth, and prosperity - key elements that not only benefit businesses but also contribute to the broader economic growth of the city.

Speakers:

  • Richard Parker - Mayor of the West Midlands
  • James Dickens - Managing Director, Wavensmere Homes
  • Councillor Stephen Simkins - Leader, City of Wolverhampton Council

Additional speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Business Breakfast forms part of Wolverhampton Business Week, running from Monday 23 to Friday 27 September. The week-long program features a diverse array of events hosted by city partners, designed to empower local businesses and stimulate economic growth:

  • Monday 23 September: A Masterclass on AI, delivered by City of Wolverhampton College, will focus on enhancing business understanding of emerging technologies.

Councillor Stephen Simkins, Leader of the City of Wolverhampton Council, said: "The annual Business Week program exemplifies the power of collaboration in driving our local economy forward. Wolverhampton's pro-business stance is not just attracting new investment but also fuelling business expansion, creating thousands of jobs, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our residents and businesses alike.

“The transformative projects at Canalside South, St George’s, and City Centre West - through partnerships with Wavensmere Homes, Capital&Centric, and ECF - are clear demonstrations of how Wolverhampton is turbocharging economic growth through strategic housing development."

James Dickens, Managing Director at Wavensmere Homes, said: "Canalside South features over 17-acres of prime brownfield land ready and waiting to be reanimated, with canal frontage on two sides. It will be the catalyst to a new wave of city living and transformative for the wider regeneration of the canal basin, which is an integral part of City of Wolverhampton Council’s vision for the city centre.

“We are keen to engage with the people, businesses and stakeholders of the city throughout the development of the scheme, and the Wolverhampton Business Breakfast provides a perfect platform to do just that. I'm looking forward to sharing more details about what we have planned for the city."

Thank you to our Headline Sponsor Wavensmere Homes and Breakfast Reception Sponsor Arcadis for their generous support of this event.
