Residents can catch all the action from this summer’s cycling time trial event at Wolverhampton’s exclusive Festival Site.
On Thursday 4 August 2022, the City of Wolverhampton will proudly host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Cycling Time Trial with the race starting and finishing at our spectacular West Park.
Those who couldn’t get tickets to the event can watch all the action for free at the Wolverhampton Festival Site, on Thursday 4 August, at Old Market Square from 9:30am – 6pm.
Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the excitement of live sport as the Commonwealth Games Cycling Time Trial race zooms through Old Market Square. Or grab a seat, soak up the electric atmosphere and watch all the action on the big screen.
With live entertainment and commentary from some sporting legends, ‘have a go’ cycling activities, information stands, a great range of food and beverages, face painting, children’s rides and much more, this promises to be a great day out for all the family.
Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment and Climate Change, said: “The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be here before we know it, and we’re really excited that the location of the men and women’s Cycling Time Trials will be the City of Wolverhampton along with our partner Local Authorities across the West Midlands.
“It’s important that our residents have the opportunity to embrace this event and the Games in general, which is why we’re excited to announce the Wolverhampton Festival Site at Old Market Square.
“Not only will you be able to see the race in action, but you can also hear from sporting legends, have a go at cycling activities, enjoy food and drink as well as much more.
“I’d encourage everyone to get involved and attend this family-friendly event this summer.”
