Walsall joined the celebration of the 100-day countdown to the Kabaddi World Cup 2025 on Thursday 5 December at the official launch event.

The cup will take place in the West Midlands from 17 to 23 March 2025.

The launch event marked the beginning of preparations for the tournament, which will see the top kabaddi players compete, and it will be the first time the competition has been hosted outside Asia.

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Associate Leader of Walsall Council, said “The Kabaddi World Cup 2025 is another great opportunity to put Walsall on the map.

“This is a huge global event so it’s great for Walsall and the West Midlands to be able to host it, bringing the sport to the UK for the first time.”

At the launch event, the team draw for the 16 participating nations took place, which also announced bookmaker Paddy Power as the competition’s title sponsor. Over 100 partners and stakeholders from the West Midlands attended the event, enjoying an exhibition kabaddi match.

Day 5 of the tournament will be held at Wolverhampton University’s Walsall Campus.
