An introduction to traditional storytelling course for adults is now on sale Book online via the Assembly Rooms or booking office: 01827 709618 Learn more about storytelling skills and meet new people
Tamworth Borough Council are inviting budding story tellers to join a new course taking place at the Assembly Rooms.
Professional storyteller and teacher Maria Credali has developed an introductory storytelling course to help people develop their own narrative skills and explore their own stories by reaching into their imagination and creative world.
Each of the ten weekly sessions will begin with a chance to sit back and enjoy a traditional story over a drink from the Assembly Rooms Claymore Café. Attendees will learn how to remember stories without the need of a book, how to develop a story they wish to tell, and how to connect with an audience.
Storytelling is great for increasing self confidence in public speaking and improving personal communication skills, not forgetting it is also lots of fun! This course aims to provide an opportunity for anyone wanting to tell a chosen story at a sociable event at the end of the ten-week programme, but there is no pressure to perform unless you want to; listeners are very welcome.
Traditional storytelling is one of the oldest art forms there is. It uses spoken word, gesture and expression to help create an imaginary landscape and characters in the minds of the listeners.
Sign up now, bring a pen and notepad and let your imagination take over! The course is over a ten weekly period starting on Tuesday 18 April – Tuesday 16 May, 10.30am – 12pm and costs £7 per weekly session.
There is a short break before the weekly sessions return on Tuesday 6 June – Tuesday 14 July.
Prebooking is required to secure a place. Please book online via: What's On | Tamworth Arts and Events or call the Box Office on 01827 709618.
