Tamworth Community groups awarded council grants

Tamworth Borough Council awards community grants to five groups and one individual Grants awarded quarterly Next round of grant applications close on 3 November

Local community and voluntary groups have received £5,130 in community grants, thanks to the latest round of quarterly grants from Tamworth Borough Council.

Five groups and one individual, have each been awarded grants of between £500 and £1,000 from the Community Grants scheme that is available for community, not for profit organisations or for identified not for profit projects to work collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of the residents of Tamworth.

The latest awards have been given to the following:

 

  • Belgrave Community Allotment and Garden (BCAG): £730 towards the costs of renewing public liability insurance, publicity material, community engagement events and the purchase of garden consumables; plus the delivery of horticulture sessions for the autumn and spring terms to continue the ‘Ground to Table’ project. 
  • Make Some Noise: £900 towards the cost of a sessional work for a Tamworth music project. The grant will be used towards funding a lead creative practitioner to work with several Tamworth primary schools.
  • Park Farm Social Club: £1,000 towards the costs of hiring the venue for weekly social and befriending meetings, run by volunteers, offering light breakfast bingo, raffle and outings to promote befriending and socialising for community members who feel lonely and isolated within the local community.
  • Tamworth District Scouts: £1,000 towards the costs of improving access to their activity centre by installing an accessibility ramp

 

  • Tamworth Have a Heart: £1,000 towards the costs of purchasing replacement batteries for the life-saving defibrillators in Tamworth.
  • Talented individual: £500 awarded to talented 14-year-old, who is an accomplished breaststroke swimmer from Tamworth and has represented the borough at a county and regional level. The grant will be used towards City of Birmingham swimming squad fees.
