Talk to us Tamworth – council launches major new Residents Survey

How satisfied are you with the way Tamworth Borough Council runs services, how do you feel about Tamworth as a place to live and how would you prefer to be engaged and informed about the council’s work and services?

These are just some of the questions Tamworth Borough Council is asking as part of a major new Residents Survey being launched today.

Since the end of March 2020, Tamworth Borough Council has worked hard to ensure that services remain available and accessible throughout the pandemic, including to the most vulnerable members of our community.

We’d now like to seek residents’ help in gathering detailed information on the wider impact of our services, including how people prefer to contact the council, where they seek news about the authority and the sort of information that is most of interest.

We’re also asking about levels of engagement we offer to local residents and how people think this can be improved.

The hope is that as many people as possible take part in this survey over the next month so we can get some really representative and useful information that can help inform future service improvements.

As an extra incentive and to thank people for their time, everyone taking part in the survey has the option of entering a free prize draw to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 tablet courtesy of ENGIE, our housing repairs contractor.

The survey is available online now until Sunday, March 21. The survey link will also be included in the Council Tax letters that are being sent to every home in the town this March. Our Customer Services advisors will be on hand to help people complete the survey via telephone, for anyone who is unable to fill it on online.

Tamworth is a two-tier area with the majority of services provided by Staffordshire County Council, which receives the majority of the Council Tax paid (73%).

Currently, Staffordshire County Council receives 73p in every £1 of your Council Tax. Services provided by the county council include highways, transport, education services, care for the elderly, as well as care for adults and children with disabilities, care for vulnerable children, museums and libraries, waste management and trading standards.

Tamworth Borough Council receives 10p in every £1 of your Council Tax. Services provided by Tamworth Borough Council include waste collection and recycling, street cleaning, parks and open spaces, planning and building control, promoting economic growth and regeneration, leisure services, election administration and support for the homeless.

This survey is specifically for residents of Tamworth to share their views about the services provided by Tamworth Borough Council.

Cllr Daniel Cook, Leader of the council, said: “We’d like to thank the town’s residents for their understanding and co-operation for the difficulties we have all faced and continue to face as a result of the pandemic. It’s meant we have had to change the way we do things, with a particular focus on making sure the vulnerable members of our community can continue to access any help and support they need.

“We would now like to seek your help in gathering more detailed information on the wider impact of our services and to help us identify opportunities for service improvement, particularly as we look towards recovery from the pandemic. We’d like to get as many responses as possible, so we can gain a meaningful and representative sample. We would really appreciate it if people could take the time to complete the survey.”

Results will be fed back once they have been collated and analysed.

The survey is live online at www.tamworth.gov.uk/talk-to-us.
