The Senior Leadership Team at Walsall Council has been awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ honour at this year’s prestigious Municipal Journal (MJ) Awards, which celebrate excellence in local government.
The announcement was made at an awards ceremony in London on Friday 21 June 2024.
Walsall Council's commendation in the Senior Leadership Team category highlights the contributions and hard work of all staff along the ‘Proud’ transformation journey.
As a result of these efforts, improvements have been made to outcomes and customer experience, employee satisfaction and engagement and service efficiency and performance.
This includes the launch of 29 Walsall Connected centres across the borough, helping bridge the digital divide for those people who need additional face-to-face support.
Dave Brown, Executive Director for Economy, Environment and Communities at Walsall Council, said, “It was an absolute privilege to represent Walsall at the MJ Awards and I’d like to congratulate and thank everyone who has played a part in driving significant improvements in local governance at Walsall Council.
“This commendation underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality public services that we strive for at Walsall Council.
“It’s great to keep the positive momentum going too. Earlier this month, we won the Most Improved Council Award at the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards.
“The next step for Walsall Council is to deliver our 'We are Walsall 2040' vision for the future of the borough. Walsall in 2040 will be the most improved borough in the region, a vibrant place where people are proud to live and residents in all neighbourhoods have the same life chances.”
