The ‘Select and Collect’ service at Central Library has resumed, with customers once more able to reserve and pick up books and other items from six libraries.
Library members can pre-order titles via the online catalogue at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries, by emailing libraries@wolverhampton.gov.uk or by calling 01902 552025. As well as taking requests for specific titles, ‘Lucky Dip Bags’ – ready-made bags of particular genres such as thrillers and crime stories as well as children’s books – are also available.
They can then collect their items at a pre-arranged time from Central, Warstones, Finchfield, Bilston, Tettenhall and Wednesfield libraries.
The service from Central was temporarily suspended last month because a number of staff were self-isolating because of Covid-19.
Councillor Stephen Simkins, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for City Economy, said: "While our libraries remain physically closed, the Select and Collect service – alongside our online offer – has played an important role in enabling our members to get their reading fix.
“As well as collecting books and other items from six libraries, members are reminded they can enjoy the latest collection of bestselling eBooks and eAudiobooks for free via the BorrowBox library app.
"Meanwhile, our Home Library Service, which is run in partnership with Citizens Advice Wolverhampton, is continuing to deliver items directly to our most vulnerable housebound members."
Please note, all 16 of the city’s libraries remain closed to visitors at this time, apart from click and collect from the six listed above. Plans for their reopening will be announced in due course.
It's free to join Wolverhampton’s libraries and people can sign up on line. Please visit www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries or follow on social media at www.facebook.com/wolveslibrariesand www.twitter.com/wolveslibraries for more information.
