Over 155,500 have two doses of Covid-19 vaccine in Wolverhampton

The latest data shows that over 155,500 people in Wolverhampton have now had two doses of Covid-19 vaccine.

Figures reveal that 326,451 doses of the life-saving vaccines have been administered across the city, with 170,860 people having had at least one dose and 155,591 people having two doses.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “Vaccination numbers are continuing to increase within the city, with almost 75% of all adults now having had their first dose.

“We will soon start to see older and more vulnerable people being contacted by their GPs or the NHS to invite them back for a booster dose to give them even better levels of protection.

“That doesn’t mean it’s too late for people who have not been vaccinated yet; the offer is evergreen so people can get their jab when they are ready. However, I would still encourage people to do so as soon as possible, particularly as we move into autumn and winter when the infection rates are expected to rise again.”

Latest figures show that there were 336.6 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in Wolverhampton over the last seven days. That means 885 people tested positive for the virus in that same time period, although the true number of new cases is likely to be higher.
