New council parking machines

New car parking machines are to be installed in all of Tamworth Borough Council’s Town Centre public car parks, giving customers a wider choice of easy payment options in addition to traditional cash only methods.

These machines will be able to take the usual cash payment plus chip and pin debit/credit card payments along with a contactless option, including payments by apps such as Apple and Google pay. There will no longer be the requirement to input car registrations when purchasing a ticket, however, customers will still need to input registrations when using the Phone And Pay app or telephone payment feature.

The new system is designed to be more reliable in the council carparks and offer a wider choice of payments to make the ticket system more user friendly to all customers.

Anna Miller, Tamworth Borough Council’s Assistant Director for Growth and Regeneration, said:” The new parking machines are being fitted at all council carparks across the town centre, with the aim of being in use by end of June 2022.

“We hope that the machines will make it easier and be more accessible for all people using the council carparking facilities.

“There will be no more requirement to provide your car registration if you pay by cash or card, however you will be asked to give your reg if you pay via the online and telephone services.”

To find out where all Tamworth Borough Council’s carparks are situated and current parking charge costs, please check on the council website here: www.tamworth.gov.uk/car-parks or there will be a council logo located on the machine itself.
