Tamworth Borough Council are investing more than £1.75 million to improve six high rise blocks Major investment to replace all soil and ventilation pipes near completion New advanced energy efficient heaters installation already completed in four of the high rise
Work by Tamworth Borough Council in partnership with housing contractor Equans, to install new advanced energy efficient heaters to the town centre high rise blocks is nearly complete. Work is taking place as part of the significant improvement programme for council social housing.
The work commenced last year in partnership with housing contractor Wates, with the replacement of soil and ventilation pipes thanks to a £1.75 million investment. Installing new heaters sees a further investment of £832,300.
The advanced energy efficient electric storage heaters will provide an upgraded replacement for older storage heaters. Benefits include programmable room temperature timers; lower running costs; controllable electronic heat output; slimline design and being fan assisted. The new heaters fully comply with the ERP directive.
Councillor Samuel Smith, Tamworth Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Housing and Planning, said: “This incredible investment of more than £1.75 million from Tamworth Borough Council, is essential to make sure we improve and maintain our high rise homes to a high standard.
“These improvements also come at a time when everyone is feeling the impact of the cost of living. We hope this will contribute to help residents reduce their energy costs.
