More libraries open for browsing and Select and Collect

More libraries reopen for controlled browsing, computer use and Select and Collect services this week.

Finchfield and Tettenhall libraries will offer controlled browsing and PC access from today (Tuesday 4 May).

They join Central, Bilston, Warstones and Wednesfield libraries, which are already open for controlled browsing and PC use, in being able to welcome customers through the doors for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic last March.

To allow social distancing and control numbers, people must book a 30-minute session in advance by calling 01902 552025. Customers must be a member of the library service to book a session and must also wear a face covering indoors in line with national regulations, unless they are exempt.

Meanwhile, the Select and Collect service, allowing library members to reserve books and other items and collect them at a pre-arranged time, is also being extended to more branches from this week.

It is already available from Central, Warstones, Finchfield, Bilston, Tettenhall and Wednesfield libraries and is now being rolled out to branches at East Park, Whitmore Reans, Low Hill and Spring Vale.

Library members can pre-order titles online at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries, by emailing libraries@wolverhampton.gov.uk or by calling 01902 552025. Titles can be collected from East Park Library on Tuesdays between 10am and 1pm, Whitmore Reans Library on Wednesdays from 1pm-4pm, Low Hill Library on Thursdays from 1pm-4pm and Spring Vale Library on Fridays from 10am-1pm. Please note, while Select and Collect is available from these libraries, they remain closed for browsing at this time.

Members can also continue to download bestselling eBooks and eAudiobooks for free via the BorrowBox library app on Apple or Android phones, tablets and computers.

As libraries reopen the grace period for overdue titles, which has been in operation throughout the pandemic, is now ending. Customers can return items to any library currently open for Select and Collect services or renew them online at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries or over the phone by calling 01902 552025 – please remember you will need your membership number.

Robert Johnson, City Librarian, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming members back into two more libraries this week and extending our popular Select and Collect service to more branches. We are working hard to keep staff and customers safe, and will look to open up further as soon as we are able to do so."

It's free to join Wolverhampton's libraries – to find out more, please visit www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/libraries, call 01902 552025 or follow the library service on social media at www.facebook.com/wolveslibraries and www.twitter.com/wolveslibraries.
