The Mayor of Walsall attended a special Christmas light switch-on event at Walsall Manor Hospital on Friday 1 December.
Councillor Chris Towe, the Mayor of Walsall, enjoyed many festivities on the day including Christmas carol singing, saxophone playing and the all-important light switch-on.
The event was organised by one of the Mayor’s chosen charities for the year, Well Wishers, who he thanked for all their hard work.
Councillor Chris Towe, the Mayor of Walsall, said, “It was a real honour for me to be invited to switch on the lights at the Manor Hospital.
“I would like to thank well-wishers for all the great work they do, not only today but throughout the year.
“I would also like to thank all the Hospital staff for all that they do for the people of Walsall, without you, I don’t know where we would be.”
Another special guest at the event was a little donkey named Declan who was joined by his mum Delilah for a busy day cheering up patients on the Children’s Ward.
Those in attendance were also treated to a first public performance by Walsall Healthcare’s choir who sang ‘Walking In The Air’ from the Snowman film.
Following the switch-on the Mayor took the time to meet people who were in attendance and even joined in with a festive sing-along.
