Let’s celebrate safely together in Tamworth this jubilee bank holiday, and ensure we follow advice from the Food Standards Agency on how to serve up safe food.
It’s less than two weeks to go until the Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee so if you’re planning to celebrate in Tamworth during the long Bank Holiday weekend (June 2-5, 2022), and you’re not sure where to start, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and your local Tamworth Borough Council is here to help.
We have some easy-to-follow tips so that the food at your event will be memorable for all the right reasons.
To ensure a risk-free celebration, remember warm weather and outdoor cooking are the perfect conditions for bacteria to grow, and risks remain when preparing and serving chilled food in these conditions.
Cllr Martin Summers, Cabinet member for the Voluntary Sector, Town Centre, Evening Economy and Community Safety, said: “We are delighted that the Platinum Jubilee gives communities in our borough a chance to enjoy gathering together over the long weekend to celebrate this historic milestone.
“Celebrating safely means thinking about food safety ahead of time, so on the day you can concentrate on enjoying the party.
“We know there’s a lot to organise, but don’t forget hygiene is also important, so plan out carefully how you will prepare, make and store food. None of us want unsafe food to affect the fun we will all hope to have on the day.”
Foods Standards Agency have issued some simple tips if you're making food for large numbers of people, details can be found here: www.food.gov.uk/how-to-safely-host-a-street-party.
