Huge demand for city’s world class firework displays – get your tickets now!
The city council announced earlier in the autumn that the two world class displays would be returning to brighten the city’s skyline, after a pause last year due to the pandemic.
Tickets for the Fireworks Spectacular went on sale in September and excitement for the event, at Wolverhampton Racecourse, is such that nearly all places have been sold out.
Due to the high demand, tickets will now only be available in advance, no tickets will be on sale at the gate. Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children aged 4-15. Admission is free for children under-3.
Anyone without tickets is asked not to attend on the evening as they will not be able to gain entry.
Car parking for the event has also sold out. Anyone with a ticket to the event, but who hasn’t booked a car parking space at the racecourse is advised to consider using public transport.
Gorsebrook Road will be coned off to prevent disruption to residents and will be patrolled by council officers. Anyone coming by car is asked to park considerately.
The displays for Saturday’s event will once again be staged by the award winning Komodo Fireworks who are two-time British musical firework champions and four-time winners of the UK fireworks championships.
Gates open at 5pm, the first display, aimed at families with children, will start at 6.30pm and the second main display will be at 8pm. The evening will also include a family friendly funfair suitable for all ages, a variety of bars and food stalls around the racecourse.
There will be no bonfire at this year’s event. This is because organisers want to create enough space to allow the maximum amount of people into the venue safely with Covid infection levels still high.
Councillor Steve Evans, City of Wolverhampton Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for events, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our city’s two world class firework displays have seen such a high level of demand. What a great night this promises to be.
“Wolverhampton is an events city and the enthusiasm for Saturday’s displays shows that we are able to offer popular high quality entertainment and events for our local residents.
“It’s really wonderful to be able to be working again with Komodo Fireworks to welcome people back to this annual event which sadly had to be postponed last year due to the pandemic.
“I would like to urge those attending the event, who do not have car parking booked at the racecourse, to consider using public transport to attend or to be respectful of local residents when parking. Our officers will be out in the area during the event to ensure drivers are adhering to parking restrictions.”
