Hop aboard the vaccine bus and grab a jab in Phoenix Park

(l-r): Councillor Beverley Momenabadi, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, with Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, with the vaccine bus in Phoenix Park.

Wolverhampton’s Covid-19 vaccine bus is making another stop in Phoenix Park and this week is open to 16 and 17 year olds too.

The bus will be in Phoenix Park on Thursday 30 September from 1pm until 6pm and then Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October between 11am and 6pm and Sunday 3 October 11am-4pm.  Anyone aged 16 or over can get their vaccine without needing to book ahead, and both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines are available.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “This is the first time the vaccine bus has been able to offer life-saving Covid-19 vaccines to people aged 16 and 17, so makes it even easier for them to get vaccinated and get the protection they need.”

“We’re seeing infection rates beginning to rise again, which may be the impact of schools and colleges returning to classrooms, with over 1,000 people testing positive for the virus last week.

“That’s why vaccination remains the most important thing we can all do to protect ourselves and those around us, and to limit the spread of the virus further. If you have not had your vaccine yet or are over 18 and are due your second dose, please go along to the vaccine bus, or one of the other walk-in clinics open across the city and grab your jab.”

In addition to the vaccine bus at Phoenix Park, other walk-in vaccination clinics are open across the city this week. For full details, including the types of vaccine available, please visit www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/localvaccine

Covid-19 vaccinations are also available by appointment and can be booked online at www.nhs.uk/vaccine or by calling NHS 119.

The latest figures show there were 381.6 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in Wolverhampton over the last seven days. That means 1,004 people in the city tested positive for the virus in that same period – though the true number of new cases will likely be higher.
