An apprentice at Walsall Council has been recognised for their achievements at a regional awards ceremony.
Abbie-Farr Smith is a finance apprentice at Walsall Council and was awarded Apprentice of the Year at the Ladder for the Black Country Apprenticeship Awards.
The awards first launched in 2014, and were hosted at Hawthorns in West Bromwich on 13 November where hundreds gathered for the prestigious ceremony.
The awards acknowledge the very best apprentices and employers across the region, and Abbie was nominated by Walsall College.
Judges applauded Abbie for her inspirational determination since starting her apprenticeship at the council two years ago.
Councillor Pardeep Kaur, Portfolio Holder for Education and Skills at Walsall Council attended the awards and said,
“A big congratulations to Abbie for this wonderful achievement.
“Her dedication and commitment have been recognised by the entire region, and we are all extremely proud of you.
“Apprenticeships can offer such a fantastic balance of work and study, equipping you with all the knowledge, skills, and work experience to achieve success like Abbie.
“Another big well done from us all at Walsall Council, it is truly well deserved.”
Walsall Council were one of the award sponsors, and supported the Medium Employer of the Year Award.
