Alan Savill from the parenting team at Walsall Council has been announced as the winner of the “Making An Impact” award at the The National Facilitator Awards.
Taking place on 17 November at York Racecourse, the awards aim to recognise and celebrate people who deliver exceptional training.
Alan has a wealth of experience in supporting parents and families across the UK when experiencing periods of conflict within the home and has designed training for professionals in frontline services to support families who may require some extra support.
Since 2019, Alan has trained over 9500 professionals and equipped them with the knowledge and skills to help families in need.
Last year, Alan joined Walsall Council as part of the parenting team and has continued to work with families directly, or through referrals, and regularly works with practitioners across the council and partners within the local community to train their on-the-ground staff to recognise and respond to parental conflict. Alan also works with colleagues in the parenting team to deliver support groups and workshops directly to parents in conflict and to parents struggling with separation and divorce and the impact of this on their children.
Alan was delighted to receive his award and said, “This is a huge honour for me. I only train in subjects I believe in and have strived so hard to make the training around parental conflict relevant, inspirational, and interesting.
“To know that I have made an impact to professionals across the country makes me so proud. Walsall Council believed in me since 2019 and so I jumped at the chance to work directly for them since last year. I work with so many dedicated people who care about children and I witness them making lives better daily. To be a part of this makes me very, very proud.”
