Dermot McGillicuddy, Director of LSD Promotions said: “We were awarded a new contract with Tamworth Borough Council and are very proud to be working in partnership and support the redevelopment plans in the town centre over the next five years.
“We had more than 60 stalls attend the Food and Drink Festival, giving traders a great opportunity to see what an amazing place Tamworth is and also attracting huge crowds of more than 10,000 people over the two days, with everyone enjoying the new offer.
New traders are always welcome to join the market by contacting the LSD Promotions head office on: 01384 877336 or visit www.lsdpromotions.com.
Cllr Daniel Cook, Tamworth Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Economy and Waste, said: “We were excited to welcome the Food and Drink Festival to the town and meet so many new traders from all around the country, offering something different for visitors to try.
“As part of the new market operator contract awarded earlier this year, Tamworth Borough Council’s Economic Development and Regeneration Team, are working hard with contractor LSD Promotions, to grow the market and make it more attractive to new traders and the wider public.
“Feedback across social media has been amazing and to top it off BBC Midlands Today did a feature about its success on the tea time news.
“The growth of the market is a key part of our role at the council in supporting the town centre to flourish over the next five years. It will work alongside the major Future High Streets Fund development and Gungate project, towards the overall vision for an improved town centre fit for the future.
“The success this weekend of the expanded market goes to show that there is demand for a different offer and much more emphasis can be put on bringing in commercial, private sector led operators who have experience in running similar activity to such a high quality.
“We are already speaking to LSD Promotions about doing similar expanded markets in the New Year and other schemes to make the market appeal to more people.”
