Early bird tickets are now on sale for Wolverhampton’s annual firework display, which moves back to West Park for 2024.
The event, which takes place on Friday 1 November is brought to you by the two times British Fireworks Champions, Komodo Fireworks, with support from City of Wolverhampton Council.
The annual display, which moved to Wolverhampton Racecourse in 2015, is moving back to West Park after a 9-year break.
The event has moved from Wolverhampton Racecourse after plans to build a greyhound racing track at the site were given the green light towards the end of last year meaning that the space to hold the fireworks event would be reduced.
The city’s very own Dicky Dodd will once again host the show which will feature a children’s display followed by the main display, choreographed to some of the biggest hits with fireworks that will light up the city’s sky. People can also enjoy the funfair, food and drinks stalls and a stage with live music featuring the ‘Now I’m Here’ Queen tribute band on stage until 10pm.
Early bird tickets are now on sale costing £8.50 for adults and £6.50 for children aged 3 to 15. Admission will be free for children aged 2 and under.
Early bird tickets are available until 23:59pm on Sunday 1 September after which ticket prices will be £9.50 for adults and £7.50 for children aged 3 – 15 with those aged 2 and under still going free.
Jane Sosbe from Komodo Fireworks said: “We are delighted to be involved in the continuation of this amazing family event. We have delivered our amazing displays to the residents of Wolverhampton for over 15 years and are proud to be working with the council on this year’s change of location. Back to West Park where it all started!
“Two displays. One for the children and the main show for everyone to enjoy. Both choreographed to music, making every firework dance in time to the beat. This year we have added value of a stage which will have live acts between the displays and finishing with an amazing Queen tribute act. This year will be special!”
Councillor Chris Burden, Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs, and Skills at City of Wolverhampton Council said: “We are incredibly excited to see the return of our annual fireworks display, and even more excited to announce its return to West Park.
“The event saw a fantastic run at Wolverhampton Racecourse for the last 9 years, and we would like to thank our friends there for helping ensure the event continued to be a success year on year.
“It’s the same fantastic night, moved to a new location for 2024 and back to our roots at West Park. I’d encourage everyone to book their tickets now, especially at the discounted rate for what I’m positive will be a sellout show.
“As ever, I would urge people to attend professionally arranged fireworks displays like this one at West Park rather than attempting to light fireworks at home, which can be dangerous and cause injuries.”
