Families could be entitled to a weekly £15 food voucher per person, within the household, for a maximum of three weeks. These can then be used at Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrison’s or Tesco’s.
The Family Hub is open for contact every Monday to Thursday, 9am until 5pm, and 9am to 4.30pm on a Friday for families to connect and find information about how to keep healthy, safe and well, things to do for children, childcare and early education.
The new food vouchers are aimed at any family that may be left hungry in Staffordshire because of Covid-19. Tamworth families are urged to get in touch quickly as the vouchers will only be available short-term until the funds are all allocated.
The hub can also help put parents and carers, in touch with organisations across Staffordshire who are helping people to find food supplies.
If you are an adult, with or without children, a Staffordshire County Council resident and are receiving a means tested benefit you may be eligible for the food vouchers. Means tested benefits include Universal Credit Income Support, income based job seekers allowance, child tax credit, working tax credit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance.
Any children who have already received Free School Meals vouchers will not be eligible for voucher support at this time and a household can claim for a maximum of three weeks but must reapply weekly. The financial support provided will be in a voucher form and will only be for use in a supermarket and not online, all vouchers must be redeemed in full when used.
For more information on how to claim for food vouchers, or other family support, please contact your local Family Hub Coordinator: Amy Morrison 07581 212713 or email: amy.morrison@staffordshire.gov.uk .
Applicants will need to provide ID, evidence of home address and proof of benefits or financial situation, to confirm eligibility. This will be done via a virtual face to face meeting that will be prearranged with the Family Hub Coordinator.
