Countdown to this year’s We Love Tamworth

We Love Tamworth annual town event Labyrinth inflatable assault course challenge in main arena Large outdoor stage hosting live entertainment all weekend

Countdown is on for Tamworth Borough Council’s annual town festival, We Love Tamworth this weekend, for a packed programme of activities in Tamworth Castle Grounds.

An action-packed weekend of fun for the whole family, is set to take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September from 10am.

This year the event will see the return of the performance stage hosting live local talent including Youth Battle of the Bands winners Pulse, headlining on the Saturday, plus runners-up band Rory and the Revellers performing live.

Tamworth Borough Council are excited to announce that due to the success of re-launched Youth Battle of the Bands, the competition will return next year with the age of contestants extended to 25 years old. Keep an eye out for more information coming soon.

The line up for the weekend activities look like this:

Saturday 7 September

  • Labyrinth challenge – main arena
  • Streets, Eats and Beats food festival – main arena
  • Active wellbeing team activities – tennis courts
  • Tamworth Castle heritage open day, coracle making workshop – Tamworth Activity Centre
  • Commercial and charity stalls
  • Petting zoo
  • Sound of Tamworth - live stage
  • Art of Tamworth – upper Lawn

 

Sunday 8 September

  • Labyrinth challenge
  • Streets, Eats and Beats food festival
  • Tamworth Castle heritage open day coracle making workshop
  • Community stalls
  • Reliant annual gathering
  • Local brass bands performance, including Amington Band and St John’s Brass Band
  • Art of Tamworth – upper lawn

 

The arts and events team will be handing out FREE wristbands at the information stand by the planet walk area for parents to write their contact details on.

 

Councillor Lewis Smith, Portfolio holder for people services, engagement and leisure for Tamworth Borough Council, said:We’re excited to host We Love Tamworth for the 12th year. Each year the event grows more popular with residents and visitors to our town.

“This year’s event has all the much-loved features from previous years, as well as some very special extras, such as coracle making workshops and a large stage to host live entertainment and music.

“It has become a great day out and a firm favourite among people of all ages. This year we are especially delighted to welcome our Youth Battle of the Bands winners and finalist to the live stage, promoting our amazing local young talent.”

Please note that Riverdrive car park will be closed next weekend to support suppliers and equipment arriving at the Castle Grounds for the event. Timings of the closure will be:

 

•             Friday 6 September – Closed from 6am

•             Saturday 7 September – Closed for the entire day and evening

•             Sunday 8 September – Closed for the entire day and evening

•             Monday 9 September – Closed for the entire morning until early afternoon
