Leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Garry Perry, joined a celebration event to mark six years of The James Brindley Foundation this week, at a grand opening of the charity’s new headquarters.
Councillor Perry joined James’s dad, Mark Brindley, the High Sheriff of the West Midlands, Mr Douglas Wright MBE DL, Wendy Morton MP and the Mayor of Walsall to unveil its new premises in Aldridge.
The morning began with tours of the new offices, plus a ribbon-cutting ceremony where local people and organisations who have supported the Foundation over a number of years could attend and mark the special achievement.
Councillor Perry said, “It was a true privilege to attend such an important moment for The James Brindley Foundation at their new headquarters.
“I’ve seen first-hand the work they have done and continue to do to address serious youth violence here in Walsall and beyond, and their achievements over the past six years are simply phenomenal.
“In their grief, the Brindley family and the Foundation work hard every single day to empower young people to bring positive changes to their lives.
“The Foundation is tackling these issues head on, and as a Council, we will continue to support them with their work and advocacy to create a safer Walsall for everyone.
“Congratulations again to all the team at The James Brindley Foundation, and I wish you all the best at your new headquarters.”
Following the ceremony, refreshments were available at Aldridge social club, and attendees were able to enjoy dance performances from Walsall College performing arts students.
Nikki Neville, Operations Manager at The James Brindley Foundation, said, “'We would like to extend thanks to Councillor Garry Perry and to Walsall Council colleagues who attended our celebration event, the day was a real success.
“The Foundation is appreciative of the support and commitment we have received from the council over the past 6 years, which has assisted us to evolve our services to meet the needs of Walsall residents.
“We are dedicated to ending youth violence, and the support we receive from the council will allow us to continue to expand our reach across Walsall and beyond, through 1:1 mentoring, training more professionals to deliver our Full Circle Programme, and installing more knife bins.
“With the recent expansion of our team, there are many more projects soon to be launched which will support our vision. This includes parenting support, volunteer recruitment and additional accredited training for professionals.”
