Local community and voluntary groups have received £4,500 of community grants, thanks to additional funding during the COVID-19 recovery phase.
During the Covid pandemic, the voluntary sector in Tamworth has responded significantly to the challenges faced through the countless hard work of volunteers and community goodwill. The council recognises those successes and continues to promote grant funding to our voluntary and community groups to aid recovery and assist those most vulnerable within our borough.
Cabinet approved the allocation of more than £27,000 for a central partnerships budget to be for use as community grant funding from 2021/22.
The funding, combined the Arts, Sports and Voluntary sector grants, and has been added to a funding pot and have granted the latest awards:
Belgrave Community Allotment: £1,000 to help foster and encourage the growth of the community spirit amongst the residents of Belgrave and surrounding areas. The grant will be used to create a picnic area, and a seating area for the volunteers. It will serve as a space for a multi-purpose workshop, potting facility, a place to rest, learning space and to gather over a brew.
New Urban Era: £2,000 towards match funding for Nue Arts Council England Bid supporting projects in Tamworth, these include the Nue proposal to host two events in 2022 for Environmental Arts and Tamworth Urban Arts.
St George’s Church Pre-School: £1,000 towards the purchase of healthy food options for snacks, improved publicity to assist recovery and resilience from Covid-19, extra heating costs and extra cleaning costs.
