Community groups awarded grants

Eight groups awarded community grants Grants awarded up to £1,000 Next round of grant applications close on 2 June, 2023

Local community and voluntary groups have received £5,945 of community grants, thanks to the latest round of quarterly grants from Tamworth Borough Council.

Eight groups have each been awarded grants of between £300 and £1,000 from the Community Grants scheme that is available for community, not for profit organisations or for identified not for profit projects to work collaboratively and flexibly to meet the needs of the residents of Tamworth.

The latest awards have been given to the following:

 

  • Against the Odds Education and Awareness CIC: £1,000 to enable the delivery of face-to-face educational sessions and to purchase project resources and marketing materials.
  • Dosthill Park Wildlife Group: £500 to be used to make necessary repairs to the boardwalk in the Local Nature Reserve area of the park.
  • Friends of Broadmeadow: £300 to purchase equipment for volunteers at Broadmeadow Local Nature Reserve, to help with their continual work enhancing the site and improving safe access. Equipment will include safety glasses, secateurs, large heavy-duty loppers, bow saws and a folding pruning saw.
  • Newborn and Expecting Services Team CIC: £695 to help with the costs of delivering a 12-week antenatal and postnatal education programme, complimented by a peer support group; and the costs associated with maintaining online resources and purchase of public awareness flyers.

 

  • The Spital Bowling and Tennis Club Ltd: £550 to support two club members to undertake level 1 Lawn Tennis Association coaching qualification.
  • Take A Bow/Inter Theatre CIC: £1,000 to support the project to re-establish links with its Tamworth members post covid, and support with the costs of theatrical production. 
  • Tameside Wildlife Conservation Group: £900 to assist with the costs of rebuilding a footbridge, installing bird boxes and building bug hotels.
  • Tamworth Pantry: £1,000 to assist with the purchase of food and operational costs associated with the running of the pantry to enable the project to reach more families.
