Celebrating excellence in local public services

Walsall Council is delighted to announce that Walsall Connected has been shortlisted for Best Efficiency and Transformation Initiative for the 2023 APSE Service Awards which will take place in September.

Walsall Connected exemplifies the Customer Experience Strategy of the Council, which was developed in 2021 and is in line with our 'new ways of working' while meeting the demands of our residents.

With Walsall Connected and Walsall Council's Customer Experience Strategy, our main objective is to provide an outstanding customer experience. Being shortlisted is truly an outstanding achievement that highlights our commitment to our residents."

Speaking about the Awards, Mo Baines, APSE Chief Executive, said, "Across local government we have an army of unsung heroes going above and beyond to deliver for their local communities. Innovation and dedication is key to their success. The APSE Service Awards uniquely recognise the profound contribution of local council frontline services to local communities and local people. These awards celebrate those contributions to the delivery of excellence on the frontline and striving to achieve continuous improvement in public service delivery”.

The APSE Awards are specific to frontline services provided by UK local authorities. The awards are agreed by a panel of expert judges. This year, the Awards included 21 categories, covering the vast majority of local services. The shortlist for the prestigious Overall Council of the Year in Service Delivery Award is still under deliberation and will be announced at a later date.

The winners will be announced at the APSE Annual Charity Awards Dinner, in aid of Parkinson’s UK, on Thursday 14 September 2023 at the world leading visitor attraction Titanic Belfast. The ceremony will take place at the rise of the APSE Annual Seminar, this year set in the historic city of Belfast.
