Applying for council housing made easy online

People with a need for council housing can now apply much quicker and easier thanks to a new online application system.

From September, 21, 2021, applicants will be able to register and apply for housing digitally using an online portal

MyHousing website is a service from Tamworth Borough Council which enables tenants to manage their tenancy online 24 hours per day.

Tenants are able to set up a safe and secure personal account through the website: https://myhousing.tamworth.gov.uk/housing/www/dashboard and access services including check their rent balance, make payments, print off statements, report incidents of anti-social behaviour, update personal details, check the status of a repair, send direct messages to members of the housing team and from this week, apply for housing.

Through the portal, new applicants can register for housing using an email address and apply to the housing team directly without the need for paper forms. Once submitted, applicants will be required to send all supporting information to: housingsolutions@tamworth.gov.uk so the application can be assessed within 14 days of receipt.

If an application qualifies, the person will be provided with a bidding reference number, banding and can bid for suitable properties based on bedroom requirements via the council finding a home site: www.findingahometamworth.co.uk .

Cllr Alex Farrell, Tamworth Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Social Housing and Homelessness Prevention, said: “The council is continually looking to innovate our service delivery for customers. With many day to day activities now delivered digitally, the introduction of the portal will support our digital agenda ensuring that customers can access services more effectively and efficiently.

“This new portal will enable tenants and applicants to register quicker and find it more easy and flexible to manage their tenancy with Tamworth Borough Council.

“You can register at any time and if you need any personal advice, assistance, or have difficulty accessing the portal, our staff members are still available and ready to help at the end of the phone, webchat or via email.”
