Traditional carol service with the Mayor of Tamworth next month Service taking place over two dates on 15 and 16 December Everyone welcome to attend and enjoy a festive celebration
The Mayor of Tamworth is inviting residents of Tamworth to join him for a ‘Merry Christmas Carol Spectacular’ night, a festive celebration at the town’s parish church.
The Mayor of Tamworth, Councillor John Harper, is holding two free ‘Carol Spectaculars’ at St Editha’s Church on Friday 15 December and Saturday 16 December, at 6.30pm.
The service will be a traditional mix of favourite carols and will include contributions from local schoolchildren and the church choir.
Rev. Andrew Lythall, Vicar of Tamworth, will give an atmospheric reading of the famous poem ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’, and other festive surprises are planned.
The Mayor said: “The aim is to brighten up winter’s gloom by giving local people an opportunity to sing our best-known carols amid the ancient splendour of our magnificent parish church.
“We can’t guarantee snow, but the church will be beautifully floodlit and all the Christmas elements will be there – including Santa Claus!
“The main emphasis is to have a good old seasonal sing-along. I can’t think of a more uplifting way to get into the festive spirit and celebrate the joy of Christmas.”
